New Media Showcase – Special Invitation to TAFE Teachers & StudentsTAFE Directors are asked to circulate to TAFE Teachers of Media & Communications a special invitation for the National Conference. TAFE Media & Communication Students will be asked to display and showcase their Best of the Best works for 2006 at an inaugural National Showcase of New Media. This national New Media Showcase takes place at a time of dynamic change impacting Australia with digital media. Mr. Wong Kan Seng MP was quoted in the Straits Times newspaper indicating new opportunities for Australia’s higher education and TAFE sector, to help with Singapore’s student and national manpower needs. Australia was one of the top 3 regional nations represented at the highly respected Singapore VTE Conference, held earlier this month. Mr. Wong said the Singapore VTE conference response indicated the close relationships available for Singapore students with TAFE. East Gippsland Institute of TAFE won Large Victorian Provider of the Year 2006, with Victorian Minister for Education & Training the Hon. Lynne Kosky MP praising the East Gippsland TAFE under CEO Angela Hutson during the award announcements. Swinburne TAFE headed by Alistair Crozier was also highly commended, winning three major awards, with other institutes on the winning list including University of Ballarat and Victoria University.
