Volunteering Congratulations!

Commonwealth Games Melbourne 2006.

TAFE salutes the success of Holmesglen Institute of TAFE (Melbourne, VIC), for the training of volunteers for the Commonwealth Games.

The widely recognized Volunteers were instrumental for Australia’s ‘Simply the Best’ Commonwealth Games 2006 effort.

ANNOUNCING …. TDA Leads UK Industry Skills Study Tour

CEOs Diary Note – A dedicated Industry Skills Study Tour will be conducted in October (7-22 Oct). The Study Tour will include strategic meetings and tours into the UK, parts of Europe, and returning through Singapore visiting two Polytehnics.

Key themes in Europe will be technology, community capacity building, quality assurance of VET diversity, industry/government partnerships and publicly funded VET delivery/government interface, while in Singapore the focus will be the response to industry shortages, and emerging technologies.

The tour will be led by Stephen Conway, Director Programs and Services, Adelaide North, TAFE SA. To register or seek further information, contact Fiona.Maxwell@tda.edu.au.

NATIONAL QUALITY COUNCIL MEETS

The National Quality Council has staged its inaugural meeting, with Gordon Institute of TAFE CEO Martha Kinsman representing TAFE Directors Australia. Martha has offered to provide regular reports to TDA Members on the progress of the NQC.

Ahead of the Council meeting, Martha was featured in Campus Review. A copy of the Campus Review profile is featured on the TDA website.

Construction sector alert - ISC consultation

The Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council is launching a special consultation process. The Council is seeking comments from TAFE colleges and institutes on its current work reviewing training packages. This is a critical area for our TAFE sector, and TAFE Directors Australia encourages TAFE feedback into this consultation.
