Funding to support TAFE partnerships with industry

Australian Flexible Learning Framework

The Australian Flexible Learning Framework’s Industry Engagement Project is inviting TAFE Institutes and Colleges to develop partnerships with industry and apply for an industry e-learning demonstration project.

Funding

In 2006 AUD$550,000 has been allocated to fund approximately 12 Industry e-learning demonstrations. The selected demonstrations will be practical e-learning solutions to workforce development needs.

All contracts will be with industry, but partnerships with TAFEs are strongly encouraged. TAFEs are encouraged to work with industry to apply for this funding to develop e-learning solutions for workplace learners.

The benefit this funding opportunity gives TAFEs is that it provides a stimulus for TAFE educational leaders to talk to industry clients about their training needs and the role technology can play in these solutions.

The result will be an application from industry, with TAFE named as the partner or even project manager. The application for up to $75,000 will propose new workplace learning methodologies that will focus on how e-learning can be used to meet a particular business workforce development need.

Background

In 2005 two of the e-learning demonstration projects that were funded, Seeley International (South Australia) and SunWater (Queensland) had strong TAFE partnerships. In the case of Seeley International the e-learning project was project managed by TAFE SA.

While in each case the contract for the funding was with the industry partner the business relationship with the TAFE has offered both short and long term benefits to both parties.

Contacts

To read about these case studies or to access their e-learning demonstrations go to http://flexiblelearning.net.au/industry.

Application Guidelines are also available to download from this website.

For more information please contact the Industry Engagement Project Manager, Jenny Dodd on 02 6207 4955 or 0408 514 183 or jenny.dodd@cit.act.edu.au.

Industry e-learning demonstration applications close Wednesday 5 April 2006.
