Conference program released

TAFE Directors Australia National Conference

The National Conference Program has been released, with Australia’s vocational education leadership speaking at the TAFE Directors Australia Adelaide event. 

The Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Kim Beazley MP, will open the program with the inaugural Mick Young Oration, in support of the Mick Young Scholarship Trust, on Monday evening 13 November 2006.

Leadership from across the VTE sector are speaking at the National Conference.

K eynote speakers will discuss the future of TAFE business, and funding under the COAG review on Skilling – including:

  • Scott Flavell, formerly D-G of the Qld Department of Employment and Training and now planning Australia’s first “private TAFE’
  • David Hind, president designate of the Business Higher Education Roundtable, and formerly Chair of the Board of ANTA
  • Jim Davidson, deputy secretary, Department of Education, Science and Training
  • State training heads Marie Persson (NSW) and Brian Cunningham (SA), and
  • Board members of the new Public Private Partnership (PPP) at the Oil and Gas Institute at Challenger TAFE (WA)

The Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs is sponsoring what will be the first designated international VTE forum at the Conference – featuring The Australia China Dialogue.
