Group Training Australia has released a report titled: Living Standards of Apprentices. The report, based on a study by the University of New England, found that first year apprentices are paid below the poverty line and just above those on unemployment benefits. GTA is submitting the report to the Fair Pay Commission for the review of apprentice wages early next year. CALL FOR PAPERS

The Institute of Trade Skills Excellence has launched the second instalment of its Ultimate Apprenticeship Competition. Those considering or currently studying an apprenticeship as well as those who are already qualified can enter to win the opportunity to experience one of three prizes: visit the Singapore Garden Festival, be part of the A1 Team Australia Pit Crew at Brands Hatch England or cook in Japan with world famous chefs.
