NOW OPENING …

2006 NATIONAL CONFERENCE – ADELAIDE

The National Conference Program begins with a special address from the Leader of the Opposition, the Honourable Kim Beazley MP.

Mr. Beazley will open the program with the inaugural Mick Young Oration, in support of the Mick Young Scholarship Trust, on Monday evening 13 November 2006.

Senator the Hon. Amanda Vanstone, Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, will make a Ministerial Address on Wednesday 15 November 2006.

Leadership from across the VTE sector are speaking at the National Conference.

Keynote speakers will discuss the future of TAFE business, and funding under the COAG review on Skilling – including:

  • David Hind, president designate of the Business Higher Education Roundtable, and formerly Chair of the Board of ANTA
  • Jim Davidson, deputy secretary, Department of Education, Science and Training
  • State training heads Marie Persson (NSW) and Brian Cunningham (SA), and
  • Brian Van Bueren, Western Business Region Manager of Honeywell Ltd – Joint Venture to the new Public Private Partnership (PPP) at the Oil and Gas Institute at Challenger TAFE (WA)

The Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs is sponsoring what will be the first designated international VTE forum at the Conference – featuring The Australia China Dialogue.

NEW MEDIA SHOWCASE 2006 

Australia’s TAFE media and communications students exhibit the ‘best of the best’ in a new National New Media Showcase. A screening will include a Gala Showcase Night at TAFE SA Arts Centre, on Tuesday 14 November, from 6.00pm.
