NOMINATIONS ALERT – TAFE Alumni Showcase at 2007 TDA ConventionInvitations are invited to contribute to a new TAFE Australia Alumni, to be unveiled at the TDA 2007 National Convention in Melbourne, as a major launch promotion through Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th September. TDA is seeking nominations from TAFE Institutes around Australia for stand-out former TAFE students who may qualify for this exhibition. Nominees need to have built on their TAFE training and experience to succeed in their field of endeavour. To nominate, please email Daria Teodorowych stating the nominee’s name as well as your name and contact details. From the nominations, TDA will select a group of successful TAFE Alumni to showcase at the Convention.1st 100 GRATIS OFFER – REGISTRATIONS FOR PROVIDER EXCELLENCE SCHEMEA ‘first 100’ offer is being provided to RTOs to register in the Institute of Trades Skills Excellence Provider Excellence Scheme. The program recognises excellence in trade skills training amongst RTOs by granting a one-star, two-star or three-star rating. Some TAFE Institutes have already been involved in pilots associated with the program. TAFE institutes are urged to take advantage of this opportunity and submit their applications ASAP – click here. The first 100 applications received will be free of charge.YOUTH ENGAGEMENT POLICY PAPER RELEASEDThe Dusseldorp Skills Forum and the Australian Industry Group have released a policy discussion paper on youth engagement titled: ‘It’s Crunch Time: Raising Youth Engagement and Attainment’. TAFE Directors Australia has welcomed the report, which establishes targets for students to progress toward post-secondary education. The report praised Holmesglen Institute of TAFE, Victoria, for its establishment of a Scandinavian-style vocational college – an issue to be featured at the 2007 TDA National Convention (Melbourne, 24-25 Sept 2007). For further information please click here.ESOS FRAMEWORK - AVAILABLE IN MULTIPLE LANGUAGESThe new ESOS Framework, designed to govern the responsibility of education institutions towards overseas students, is now available in languages other than English. The document, available from the Study in Australia website, can be viewed or downloaded in languages including Arabic, Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese.
