SKILLING AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCEMENTThe first 20,000 of the 450,000 new training places to be delivered over the next four years are on track to start from 1 April. Kevin Rudd announced the Australia 2020 Summit to be held at Parliament House. The Summit will bring together 1000 chosen Australians to debate the major policy issues facing Australia, and will be staged in April. NEW GOVERNMENT ICT APPRENTICESHIPSThe Minister for Finance and Deregulation, the Hon. Lindsay Tanner MP has announced a $15 million Information and Communications Technology (ICT) apprenticeship program. FUNDING OPPORTUNITY - E-LEARNINGGuideline and application information is now available for Australian Flexible Learning Framework's national funding for Industry Integration of E-learning. AEI ONLINE STUDYAustralian Education International (AEI), through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, has commissioned a project to develop an Australian VET International Capability Marketing Brief. UK SETS OUT FIVE YEAR FURTHER EDUCATION SECTOR STRATEGYLifelong Learning UK has developed a strategy to develop the workforce in the Further Education sector in England. The strategy will help to ensure that the skills development needs of all staff working within the sector are identified and that there is agreement on the priorities for national action and investment. The program focuses on developing core entrepreneurial skills and relevant behavioral competencies and can be taught in a conference or workshop structure.
