OFFICIAL INVITATION -- SINO-AUSTRALIAN VET FORUM - CHONGQING, CHINA 22-24 JUNE 2007Australian TAFE Institute leadership has been invited by the Chinese Ministry of Education to the 3rd Sino-Australian VET Forum, to be staged in Chongqing, China, 22-24 June 2007. DFAT Austrade and DEST AEI will be officially supporting this special Forum, and a large number of Chinese VET Institutes will be attending. The VET Forum will coincide with a major China VET Expo, also in Chongqing. And as a preview to the Forum, AEI is sponsoring a special one-day workshop in Guangzhou to review the 2nd China CEAIE / TAFE Institute exchange projects. Click here to register.DUSSELDORP SKILLS FORUM -- SURVEY FLAGS APPROVAL OF VET TRAININGA special Dusseldorp Skills Forum Newspoll has returned strong results of approval in training from young Australians. More than 85% of those surveyed had positive experiences of being a student, while many also showed satisfaction with workplace experiences. The survey results are the latest in strong satisfaction ratings on TAFE training, including increased rankings from NCVER over five years. Click here for more details about the Dusseldorp results.LITERACY AND NUMERACY INITIATIVE FROM DEST and ISCsA promotional guide for RTOs to engage community in literacy and numeracy has been issued by the Industry Skill Councils. This is an excerpt from a new booklet being jointly produced by all Industry Skills Councils. The booklet provides advice to employers on tackling language, literacy and numeracy issues in the workplace and highlights the importance of developing strong relationships with RTOs. Industry stories within the publication provide examples of successful workplace training programs involving both public and private training providers. The booklet will be launched and distributed at a series of free information seminars that ISCs are conducting in Sydney, Parramatta, Adelaide and Brisbane starting later this month (flier attached).
