VOCATIONAL GROWTH LEADS OVERSEAS ENROLMENTSThe latest figures recorded by Australian Education International shows a new peak in vocational education and training enrolments into Australian VET providers. The August International Student Data records VET enrolments and commencements almost doubling in comparison to August 2006 figures. Enrolments are almost 45% higher, and commencements grew by almost 51%. India led the growth with an increase of 179%, followed by China (almost 75%) and the Republic of Korea (almost 32%) compared to 2006 figures. To view the AEI summary click here. NEW NCVER TRADE APPRENTICE AND TRAINEE FIGURESThe National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) has released the latest Australian apprentice and trainee figures in its annual statistical report. The report shows a steady increase in trades training since 1999. In 2006, almost 4% of Australian workers were employed as apprentices or trainees, twice the rate of a decade earlier. Approximately 28% of trades apprentices and trainees that completed higher-level qualifications, did so in two years or less.
