Official election campaigns launched

The Government and the Federal Opposition have officially launched their campaigns, with skills featuring at both launches – yet TAFE Institutes varied in their policy treatment.

Response to government's $2.1 billion pledge for 100 ATC's

TAFE Directors Australia has raised the prospect of duplication in commenting on the announcement by Prime Minister Howard to pledge $2.1 billion to create 100 additional technical colleges over 10 years. Chief Executive Officer, Martin Riordan, said the initiative may fracture resources through the existing TAFE system.

TAFE Directions: Balancing Tertiary Education

TDA has released its 2007 Election Manifesto: 'TAFE Directions: Balancing Tertiary Education'. The manifesto outlines four Priority Resolutions including:

  • Increasing TAFE capability
  • Enhancing TAFE autonomy
  • Litmus Test for success in upper level skills training
  • Unlocking pathways to higher level skills
