About the TDA National Scholarships Foundation
The TDA National Scholarships Foundation, a company limited by guarantee, acts as trustee for the TDA National Scholarships Foundation Trust. The Foundation is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a deductible gift recipient organisation and is a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
Under an agreement with the former Mick Young Scholarship Trust, the assets of the trust were transferred to the Foundation late in 2012 when the Mick Young Scholarship Trust was closed. Mick Young Scholarships continue to be provided to eligible motivated students who are experiencing financial hardship.
Other categories of sponsorship are directed to specific areas of study for particular industries; to specific study locations; to students with particular needs and to students demonstrating outstanding performance – and to combinations of these attributes.
How does the TDA National Scholarships Foundation operate?
The Foundation is a registered charity, endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) organisation. It works in partnership with TDA members, the 58 public providers (TAFEs) of vocational education and training in Australia and the Pacific. TAFEs around Australia are integral to the success of TAFE National Scholarships under guidelines set by the Foundation. They work with the Foundation in the promotion, application, selection and celebration of TAFE National Scholarships.
The Foundation manages the Trust fund and sets the guidelines, policies and processes and selects the applicants most eligible for scholarship funding at the participating TAFE institutes and dual-sector universities’ TAFE Divisions.
